Role Title: People & Culture Manager

Salary: £48,000 to £52,000 (dependant on experience)

Location: London (with some travel to Chard, Somerset)

Tenure: Permanent

ActionAid UK is looking for a  People and Culture Manager to business partner with senior and middle managers on people strategic and operational issues, you will provide expert people advice, have the ability to influence, support and coach people managers to succeed in achieving their annual plans and upskill these managers to be able to nurture a high performance team and positive environment.

The People and Culture Manager role is part of the People and Culture Department which consists of the Human Resources, Internal People Communication and Engagement, Facilities, Security and Travel, People Development and Safeguarding and all these areas work closely together to translate how all aspects of their work links together to help AAUK build a safe, inclusive, sense of belonging, positive working environment, where all our 213 people thrive professionally and personally during their time with AAUK.

You will lead and manage the Human Resources Team of two HR Advisors, one Recruitment Advisor and one HR/Payroll Officer to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and confidence to work alongside our people managers and employees are meeting their objectives, create a positive employee experience, manage any employee relations issues effectively, deliver any change or culture change programmes as a team and help our people excel in the workplace.

To succeed, you’ll need to be a CIPD Member level 5 or have equivalent experience at this level, have  knowledge, in-depth experience of delivering and leading  culture change programmes, great knowledge of employment legislation and best practice and understands the importance of  leadership and project management to help deliver on  strategic people initiatives.  You’ll be able to translate this knowledge into solution-focused advice to managers and your team members. You’ll also be confident with excellent written and verbal communication skills,  and be able to quickly establish professional credibility with senior stakeholders across the organisation.  

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be asked to participate in criminal records checks at the point of offer.

ActionAid UK has a hybrid working policy for many of our roles.  The requirement will vary from team to team and the responsibilities of individual roles.  As a minimum, all colleagues are expected to attend the office 12 days per year, plus additional time for induction, training, and “Company Connection days.”  Some roles may require in-office attendance on all days and if so, these will clearly be marked as in-office roles.
